Bible Study
Bible
Study is held in the Study Conference Room on Sundays at 10:00, between the
8:00 and 11:00 worship services, and on Wednesday evenings at 7:30. No
special knowledge of Scripture is necessary --- it is, rather, a gathering
of people who wish to explore the Word of God together in a spirit of
sharing. All are warmly invited to attend.
Sunday School
A
lively course of instruction provided by caring members of our parish.
Age groups are divided into Pre-school / Kindergarten, Primary, Junior, and
Youth.
Youth Group
Our
energetic Youth Group, composed of young people from a number of
denominations, engage in activities that include hiking, snow tubing,
canoeing, trips to UVa football games, and fund-raising car washes.
A number of the members also participate in the annual Mission Week, in which they put to work their
physical talents and generosity of spirit by fixing homes, building ramps,
painting, replacing windows, and sharing God’s word with residents of
various areas. All students in grades 6 through 12 are invited
to join.
Parents'
Morning Out
Parents' Morning Out, now in its 5th year, is a cooperative program offered
to church members and the community. Children up to the age of 5 are
provided with three hours of playful yet structured time that includes
musical activities, crafts, and story time. This also provides busy
parents with some much needed free time. There is a waiting list for
this popular program, but all parents are invited to fill out an
application.
Prison
Ministry
St.
Thomas's is active in prison ministry, and worship services and Bible Study
are often brought to the inmates of the Regional Jail. If you would
like to learn how you can participate in this meaningful outreach program,
please contact the church office.
The
Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The Brotherhood of St. Andrew,
noted below as "Brotherhood," is composed of church members who meet every
Thursday at 7:00 AM for breakfast, devotions, and discussion in Parish Hall.
There is a two-month rotating duty roster assigning members to breakfast
preparations and leading the devotions and discussions, but there is also a
strong element of volunteerism in helping the assigned member in these
duties. Member Henry Carter notes that the only requirement for
membership is a willingness to come to breakfast at 7:00 AM. A shared
faith and great good humor are the hallmarks of these gatherings.

days can be found courtesy Kelly W. Puckett's
Lectionary Page.
